LEADING global smart devices provider, Honor, released its much anticipated X9c phone this week, which is expected to raise the bar in the mid-range smartphone market.

Honor’s latest addition in its X range of phones promised to deliver improved durability and battery life, eye-catching display quality, increased photography capabilities, and an advanced AI experience.

The device is encased in a lightweight design, which takes aesthetics to new levels, and it is well-priced considering the additional bells and whistles, all in the attempt to solidify its position as a trusted brand in South Africa.

Honor has seen exceptional recent growth, with the business expanding by 180% by the end of 2024, when the company achieved a significant milestone of selling one million units.

This latest device addresses South Africans' wants, which includes phone-drop fears with next-gen HONOR anti-drop display. The device features an ultra-tempered glass and a bezier curve design for durability that can survive drops from up to two-metres, a boost in reliability over its predecessor.

The phone has a three-layer waterproof structure (IP65M) and is dust resistant. Wet hand touch control enhances the phone’s durability and it also functions after 5-minutes underwater at a depth of 25cm.

This Honor gadget is the industry’s first smartphone with an ultra-large 6600mAh silicon-carbon battery that has the largest capacity available presently, which presents users with a full day of usage, including up to 48.4 hours of music streaming and 25.8 hours of online video playback. All on a single charge.

An added battery feature is its safety coating that works with the phone’s power management system to isolate the electrodes in extreme conditions.

The battery works well in temperatures between minus 30°C to 55°C, among its various other improvements, its AI enables the device to maintain continuous calls for up to 50 minutes when the 2 percent power level.

The X9c’s screen makes it possible to see infinite details, amplified by a subconscious feeling, which comes alive with a 6.78 inch eye-comfort OLED display that supports 1.07 billion colours and a 1.5K resolution, giving the user a more immersive viewing experience.

It also delivers a comfortable viewing experience with 3840Hz risk-free PWM dimming, Circadian Night Display and Dynamic Dimming features.

Packed with a robust 108MP ultra-sensing camera and captures images in greater detail and enhanced brightness.

The phone’s main camera enables users to take well-lit and sharp images in any lighting scenario and integrates AI photography features like the Honor AI Motion Sensing and AI Eraser, enhancing image quality and streamlining photo editing on smartphones.

The X9c’s ultra-slim design has a titanium finish, is lightweight, weighs 189g and is 7.98mm thick. Titanium black and jade cyan are its colour offerings.
