Thousands are set to write their matric exams this year. With about 20 days to go before the 2020 final examinations, learners need to start familiarising themselves with the exam scene.

The final exams will be combined with the June exams because these were postponed due to lockdown.

Exams will start on November 5 and end on December 15, and schools will reopen on January 25 next year. The dates were amended to accommodate schools in planning for everything to run smoothly. Learners are now able to start testing themselves at home using the matric past papers found on the

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga says that all examination centres, both public and independent, have been audited in preparation for the 2020 combined examination. The government has emphasised the importance of keeping safe during the exams. Operating under strict Level 1 regulations, the Department of Basic Education developed and distributed guidelines for those involved in the administration of health and safety measures to take into account.

This comes after teachers with comorbidities were told to return back to school. They had been allowed to work from home under lockdown Levels 2 and 3. “We want to continue to ensure safety for everybody. We wish to thank all South Africans for the support we have received. As individuals, we can indeed travel faster, but together, we can travel far,” Motshekga said.

Motshekga has also asked parents to keep on supporting matrics as they prepare to write their final exams.
