DURBAN – A bakkie transporting workers to Durban on the N2 in the vicinity of Umhlali on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast was involved in a single vehicle accident which left three injured on Thursday.
Medi Response spokesperson Paul Herbst said paramedics arrived on the scene and discovered a serious accident had occurred.
Herbst said a bakkie travelling towards Durban had left the road and rolled.
“Workers on the back were flung from the vehicle before it came to rest on an embankment,” he said.
He said advanced life support paramedics were still at the scene treating three occupants that sustained injuries.
Earlier this week. The Mercury reported that a vehicle had rolled several times on the N2 southbound, in the vicinity of Sibaya.
“One of the two patients, who was presumably unrestrained, was located approximately 50m from the vehicle, down an embankment,” he said.
Medi Response and Lenmed advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise the injured before transporting them to Lenmed EThekwini hospital for further care.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday night KZN Private Ambulance spokesperson Craig Botha said paramedics responded to an accident in Murray Road in Pietermaritzburg after reports of a collision were received.
Botha said upon arrival paramedics found that a bakkie and a motorcycle had crashed.
“Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that one patient sustained minor injuries. The patient was treated on scene before being transported to hospital for further treatment.”
