ANC Deputy President Paul Mashatile says the party's Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) will not be disbanded.
Following their meeting with ANC in Gauteng on Monday, the party decided to postpone the possible disbandment decision until after January 8. The KZN PEC was also summoned last week on the similar matter.
The provinces were called in to explain why they performed poorly in the May 29 national and provincial elections.
Despite the mother-body dropping to 40%, KZN got 17% while the one in Gauteng received 45% electoral support. These are the ANC's strong holds.
In his campaign trail in KZN on Tuesday, Mashatile told the media that the postponement would give them time to reflect on the reports that they received from the bruised provinces.
The deputy president is in KZN campaigning as the party is preparing for next week bi-elections in Pietermaritzburg.
"We did not do well as the ANC... We got 40%.
"We don't want to blame KZN or Gauteng or any other province. We are reflecting ourselves as the national leadership, together with the PECs. The purpose of the meeting was to reflect what could have gone wrong and what is it that needed to be done.
"We see this period as the time for recovery and time to cover lost ground rather than blaming one another. I know many people are saying we are calling KZN because we want to dissolve the PECs, that is not the case, we are not dissolving anyone. We are engaging and coming up with plans.
"And because it is holiday time, we are going to give ourselves time to reflect on the reports we have received as the leadership," he said.
