Who’ll stay a-Live in the race?

Once upon a time there was a presenter called Andile Ncube on SABC1’s top music show, Live. Last time he was in the newspapers, he was being linked to an armed robbery charge, but that’s a story for another time.

Ncube was good at what he did on Live and viewers got so used to his style of presenting that when he left the show it felt like it was all too soon.

Enter Sizwe Dlomo and Bonang Matheba (and Minnie Dlamini as sidekick at a later stage). They took what we knew and then threw it all out of the window.

The duo blended so well that we soon forgot about that calm presenting style of Ncube’s.

But it is now 2012 and even Dlomo and Dlamini have left the show and the channel has been searching for their replacements.

You know our Twitter celebs were eyeing this job because after working on Live, you can do pretty much anything you want to in the local TV industry.

Tomorrow we will see the final two people who were selected by Live fans from the top four we saw last week.

The voting process closed yesterday and we got hold of the final fantastic four and picked their brains over their fate tomorrow.

“Live and I go well together because I make people laugh,” said Wade Delagey, who is the funniest of the four. He is confident that given the spot he will revolutionise the way the show is done.

“I want to be at a point where people can’t leave their homes on a Friday because they have to watch Live. They should plan their schedules around the show,” he enthused.

Just to show how successful your girl B! Bonang Matheba has been, almost every new female presenter mimics her and it reaches a point where it becomes annoying.

“I love Bonang’s style, but I am coming in with something different.

“I am young, on campus and on the streets, so I know what young people want,” said the impressive Nomuzi Mabena.

“Everyone wants to be on TV, but I got attracted to the idea of auditioning for Live because it is the biggest entertainment show on the African continent, no doubt,” said Mabena.

Her direct competition is Luthando Shosha, the passionate radio personality from Port Elizabeth.

You don’t have to know her to be aware that she has been in broad- casting before as she can talk the talk in a familiar radio voice.

“I don’t mean to be arrogant, but I have a feeling that I have one foot in the door. Of course the final votes decide, but I am confident I have a chance,” she said.

Then comes Mr Cool Dude, Marv Marvrik, from Joburg. After you get over his name that sounds like something out of Lil’ Wayne’s YMCMB crew, you can see why he is in the top four.

“It was a long, interesting journey. From the long queues of the first audition to making it to this stage and getting to meet the likes of Bonang and Sizwe was pretty cool,” said Marvrik.

In his quest to get to the top he saw some established TV personalities in the queue and instead of being intimidated, he was encouraged.

“It goes to show that Live was giving us all an equal opportunity. We got to witness that Live does not give back-door opportunities.

“We are all here to try out and only the right person will win this,” he said.

• Tune in to see who is missing from this foursome tomorrow on Live, SABC1, at 9pm.
