A party sure to rock the boat

Imagine being on a ship like the Titanic without the boring James Cameron crowd or the part where the ship sinks. Instead, there’s a selection of cool celebrities and party animals having a non-stop three-day fiesta.

Well, stop imagining and get with the programme because come year-end, this scenario could be your reality.

The dynamic musical duo of DJ Fresh and Euphonik has announced their next big thing, the Oh Ship, where, for 72 hours, party people will be taken on a cruise.

On board will be various forms of entertainment such as hours of club music and poolside parties.

“On an ordinary day, not everyone can afford a cruise so we are happy to present the Oh Ship party at the end of the year,” said DJ Fresh.

“It is a gig you do not need a passport for, seeing that many people don’t have them anyway.

“We’ll be travelling for three days between Cape Town and Mossel Bay. We’ll leave Cape Town on a Friday and should be back by Monday,” he explained.

If the whole thing is expected to take place in December, then one has to wonder why the event is being brought to light now.

“Well, it gives people time to prepare and save up for the required fees. There are only 2 000 places on the cruise and people need to start making plans now to avoid disappointment,” clarified the DJ.

He explained that this is the type of event will satisfy people who are always looking for an adventure. Apart from himself and Euphonik, the other forms of entertainment will come from Micasa, Goldfish and Black Coffee.

“The people who register for this gig get to tell us who else they need on the entertainment list. The artists whose names appear a lot of times will be asked to join us,” Fresh said.

Obviously an event like this raises concerns about security issues on the big boat. After all, not ever party lover is into swimming.

“It is a business risk for us, but just like any other gig we have done. Apart from that, the cruise company we are using is in this business so they know how to make trips like this safe,” he said.

The cruise ship comprises three clubs, a cinema and a number of pools spread across 13 storeys.

“There will always be something to do,” said Fresh. “If you are tired of one gig you can go to the next venue. If you want to relax a bit then Nu Metro has a movie theatre where you can watch the latest movies.

“Those who love basking in the sun can also do so by the pool,” the DJ said.

Many surprises will be in store on deck, but DJ Fresh can’t tell you what to expect as far as his playlist is concerned.

“It is too early to tell. What I am playing right now will be outdated in two months from now so December will have its own music,” he said.
