Former Metro FM presenter and businessman DJ Sbu's fans would be forgiven for being confused about his next move in radioland, after two different radio stations were reported to have nabbed him for their 6am-9am slot.

To clear up the confusion, IOL went in search of the truth - which is that Sbu has booked spots on two radio stations.

Vuma FM's Programme's Manager Patrick Bogatsu said: "Of course yes, it is true, DJ Sbu is joining us (Vuma FM) from July 1, the station is planning to release a press briefing some time next week to give all the information that is why Sbu is slipping away from the media'.

Asked if Sbu will be replacing Mr Magic, Bogatsu declined to confirm the details.

"He's joining Vuma FM and he will be - a little bit - working with Rise as well," he added.

DRUM reported this morning that the radio and TV personality will host the breakfast show from 6-9 on weekdays at VUMA FM, taking over Linda Sibiya aka Mr Magic who recently announced that he is leaving at the end of June.

The veteran radio personality, Mr Magic joined the station about two years ago after been fired from on Ukhozi FM.

“I will be doing my last show on 30 June. That is when I will reveal where I am going. I have been in the industry for 20 years now and I need to move on,” said Sibiya.

However, a report on mpumalanganews.co.za claims that "has been scooped by Rise FM".

The report states that he "will man the Breakfast Show from Monday to Friday between 06.00 and 09.00."

It added: "According to station manager, Mr Ferdinand Mabalane, Dj Sbu has signed on the dotted line and officially assumes his duties from July 1."

DJ Sbu was axed from Metro FM in 2015 for allegedly promoting his energy drink, MoFaya on stage at the Metro FM Music Awards. He later announced that he will be leaving the hit TV show Friends like These, to focus on his other business projects, which included his own business show on CNBC Africa.

“I am humbled to have worked with the best in the business of entertainment. I have learnt a lot working with Urban Brew, the BBC and SABC 1 to create such a successful game show,” said DJ Sbu.
