The world-famous Great Moscow Circus is returning to South Africa this year with an all-new, sensational, two-hour world premiere programme – featuring more than 65 circus superstars.
Russia’s most famous calling card is coming to our shores at a cost of R80-million, with breathtaking, affordable, family entertainment, capturing all the thrills and fun of the circus of yesteryear with all the skill and daring of today’s circus heroes. The Great Moscow Circus will open its South African season at Joburg’s Montecasino on December 22, before setting off to Nelspruit, Bloemfontein, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.
It will perform in its spectacular big top tent, air-conditioned with individual chair seating, creating a traditional European atmosphere where the audience will never be more than 11m from the action!

Featuring more than 18 thrilling acts, including the best from Russia and the cream of the international circus world, The Great Moscow Circus brings with it more than 100 tons of equipment. It will perform every possible circus favourite – the funniest clowns, the most daring acrobats, death-defying daredevils, aerial artists, balancers, showgirls and much more – all supported by a live circus band. The show contains no animal acts.
Back by popular demand is ringmaster, Stanislav “Stas” Knyazkov, fresh from a US season with Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey, where he was an audience favourite. The Great Moscow Circus is presented by Theatre Tours International, who have brought shows of the calibre of the acclaimed St Petersburg Ballet Theatre to our shores.It offers the best acts from Russia and the world, hand-picked by producer Andrew Guild, who has been involved with the production of ballet, circus, classical music, folk dance, ice spectaculars and a whole lot more for more than 40 years.
