Mrs South Africa first princess, Carika Bebb, has officially taken over the title of Mrs South Africa following Verushka Singh's resignation.

This week, the pageant announced that Singh was stepping down to focus on personal matters.

"Verushka has chosen to step down in order to focus on important personal priorities at this time and to prioritise her family. The organisation respects her decision and acknowledges the responsibility it takes to make choices that honour one’s wellbeing and personal journey," the pageant's organisers said.

"We respect her decision and support her in prioritising what matters most in this season of her life," said Mrs South Africa CEO, Joani Jacobs.

In keeping with the pageant's tradition and succession protocol, Bebb has taken over the title.

“It is an honour to step into this role and to continue the work of this incredible women empowerment platform.

"I am committed to representing Mrs South Africa with purpose and pride, and look forward to making a meaningful difference through the causes close to my heart," Bebb said.
