The streets of KwaMashu just got a lot more crowded and complicated.

SABC1’s primetime drama, "Uzalo", is officially shaking things up with a wave of dynamic new characters ready to flip the script.

From old-school charmers to sophisticated power players, these fresh faces are bringing the heat to Mzansi’s favourite drama, and the fallout promises to be legendary.

The KwaZulu-Natal set series has added Nduduzo Zuma, Phindile Mashabane, Sikhosiphi Ngcobo and Thulani Mtsweni.

"Every new character we introduce brings something meaningful to the story. This season, viewers can expect more heart, more tension and the kind of honest storytelling that continues to keep 'Uzalo' close to so many South Africans," says David Mukhwevho, series producer.

"We invite our loyal viewers to join us for another thrilling season ... We commit to bringing even more drama and excitement."

The fireworks began on March 27, when social media influencer Smiso, played by Zuma, entered the show. He’s bold and stylish, and he carries a magnetic energy that’s hard to ignore.

While he’s meant to bring a youthful vibe to KwaNjomane, he quickly finds himself tangled in an emotional mess with Babekazi that could spiral out of control at any moment.

On April 8, the tone shifted as Mashabane arrived as LaDlamini. A self-made businesswoman with ice in her veins and a sharp eye for success, she immediately catches Mbatha’s attention.

But LaDlamini isn’t looking for a handout or a sidekick; she knows her worth, setting the stage for a high-stakes game of pride and ambition.

LaDlamini is described as a sophisticated and self-made businesswoman whose quiet confidence speaks volumes.

The power struggle reaches a boiling point when Ngcobo steps in as Bab’Sizwe on April 10. Fueled by grief after the death of Chief Shepherd, this respected leader is on a collision course with Nkunzi.

He’s determined to dismantle Nkunzi’s legacy e’Ndlende, sparking a war over tradition and authority that will test everyone's loyalty.

Sikhosiphi Ngcobo embodies Bab’Sizwe, a respected traditional leader whose grief quickly transforms into a quest for justice.

Finally, on April 24, Mtsweni joins the cast as Pondo, a charismatic old-school charmer who is always ready with a joke. However, his laughter hides a dark secret: years ago, he abandoned his responsibilities as a father.

Now living in the hostel, he’s building a bond with one of Izinsizwa, completely unaware that his past is about to catch up with him in the most dramatic way possible.

His return sets the stage for a layered, emotional storyline as long-buried truths begin to surface and demand accountability.

“Congratulations and a huge welcome to the new cast members! Thank you for stepping into the world of 'Uzalo'. Looking forward to the powerful moments and layered relationships you'll create," says Ofentse Thinane, SABC1 channel head.
