The internet was left stunned after British make-up artist and illusionist, Alexis Stone, shut down the conspiracy theories that Jim Carrey had been cloned after attending the 2026 César Film Awards.
Stone took to Instagram and made the revelation that they were actually the one who impersonated the actor at the event.
“Alexi Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris,” they captioned the post, accompanied by a series of pictures with the last picture being the mask and fake teeth they used to pull off the look.
Stone is a drag queen who is popularly known for their impressive impersonations of celebrities.
They have impersonated different Hollywood celebrities including Donatella Versace, Madonna, Lana Del Rey, Jennifer Coolidge, Jocelyne Wildenstein, Anna Wintour and many more.
Stone has also attended various fashion shows and events as impersonators of the beloved Hollywood stars.
Prior to Stone’s post, conspiracy theories and plastic surgery claims started circulating on social media about Carrey after his appearance at the awards show.
Many fans noted that his demeanour and voice were drastically different, and on top of that, Carrey’s facial features, especially his eyes, were magically green instead of brown.
Other fans highlighted that he was signing autographs with his right hand, despite reports that he is left-handed.
Some fans believed that Carrey was cloned, while others believed that he had a major plastic surgery procedure.
You might ask: Where do the clone theories come from? Well, in the past, Carrey would say things that many interpret as cryptic remarks about “the elite.”
He once shared that he will no longer be acting because he does not want to be a part of the system, which fueled the theories more when he looked, behaved and sounded different after his appearance recently.
In addition, even after Stone revealed that it is indeed true that it was not Carrey but them, fans remain unconvinced that Stone was impersonating Carrey.
“That just made us even more suspicious. Who’s paying you?” @iamshellybillions asked.
“That last photo is 100% AI-generated,” @tedgeoghegan commented.
While @barbsuarz added: “Make a video impersonating Jim Carrey alongside him, saying that it was all planned so we can believe it.”
