The tension between the hip hop veteran and the new generation of artists appears to be heating up again, this time involving DJ Speedsta and rising rapper K1llbrady.

Speedsta has revealed that he plans to pursue legal action against the newcomer after a heated online exchange escalated into serious allegations.

According to the DJ and producer, K1llbrady accused him of using cocaine during their disagreement, a claim he strongly denies.

Speaking on the latest episode of his podcast “Up To Speed with DJ Speedsta”, he addressed the accusations and touched on how a line has been crossed.

“Have your anger on certain topics, but just try and be mindful of how you do it. Unfortunately, I’m going to deal with K1llbrady legally because he’s saying DJ Speedsta is on cocaine, he’s put it on social media,” he said.

The dispute reportedly began as a tense back-and-forth on social media before turning into a broader conversation about respect within the hip hop space.

Speedsta addressed the younger artist, questioning his experience in the industry.

“What have you actually done? You haven’t done anything. You are well on your way. But you are trying to fight the people who have done it. It doesn’t make any sense,” he said.

K1llbrady has not publicly responded to Speedsta’s threat of legal action at the time of publication.

The seasoned DJ and producer has spent more than a decade in the music industry, working with several major artists and helping shape the local hip hop scene. The latest clash adds to a string of public spats Speedsta has had with younger artists this year.

In 2025, he made headlines after an awkward on-air moment with rapper K.Keed during an interview on his “5 Hip Hop Nights” show on 5FM. During the conversation, Speedsta challenged the Cape Town-born rapper to deliver a freestyle live on air.

K.Keed declined, telling him, “Nah, let’s not do that, Speedsta… what do we think this is?” The moment quickly sparked debate online, with some defending her decision to focus on her crafted music rather than spontaneous freestyling.

She later addressed the moment on Instagram, sharing a clip of her track “Harsh Truths” and making it clear that while she respects freestyling as part of hip hop culture, her focus is on releasing polished music rather than creating viral moments.

Speedsta also stirred conversation after publicly criticising Blxckie, claiming the rapper had not made a significant impact on the hip hop scene in 2025. This recently escalated with Blxckie and many other young hip hop artists clapping back at Speedsta, including K1llbrady.

His remarks divided fans on social media.

While some agreed that the industry often expects consistent releases and visibility from artists, many fans rallied behind Blxckie, arguing that his influence and catalogue already speak for themselves and that success cannot always be measured by constant output or chart dominance.
