After eight weeks in the house, King Wanda and The Don have officially wrapped up their journey on “Big Brother Mzansi”.

The two housemates were evicted during the latest live show, just before the race to the finale tightened.

Reaching week eight places them among the season’s Top 10, a milestone that many contestants aim for when they first enter the house.

Speaking to “Independent Media Lifestyle”, they both shared their thoughts on the challenging journey.

King Wanda

For King Wanda, making it that far exceeded the expectations he had set for himself at the start of the competition.

“I did not honestly see it happening from week one. For me, the goal was to get to week four. I really didn’t see myself being in the Top 10. It was a goal I prayed for. I said, ‘God, if I make it to the Top 10, that’s a huge accomplishment',” he said.

Now that he has achieved it, the experience has left him feeling proud and grateful.

“I feel absolutely grateful. I feel very blessed and very proud of myself, I can’t remember the last time I stood in front of a mirror and said I’m proud of you. So this has definitely been a huge confidence booster,” he added.

When it comes to strategy, Wanda insists that there was none. Instead, he believes his personality and humour may have entertained viewers and helped him stay in the game.

“Honestly, I did not have a strategy or a game plan. I just was King Wanda, I’m just a crazy person. I think people liked my jokes because I was a clown in the house.

“My humour and the things that happened after the Thursday and Saturday parties when the Chillas Punch kicks in,” he said.

The Don

The Don shared a similar experience, revealing that he also did not expect his journey to last eight weeks.

“I didn’t expect to make it this far because I went there without a strategy. All I wanted was to tell my story and show my acting talents. I hope I did that.”

Eviction nights were often nerve-racking, especially when he found himself nominated.

“Every Sunday, I’d feel anxious that I’m nominated and it’s going to be hard. But people showed love and supported me, and I made it to week eight, which is gold,” he said.

The Don revealed that authenticity is what carried him to the Top 10, saying being himself got him through to the top 10 and noting that a strategy wouldn’t have.

The experience inside the house also pushed him to reflect on himself and confront some of his personal habits.

“To be honest, I am someone who is very inconsistent. I procrastinate a lot,” he admitted. “In the house, I was forced to wake up at a certain time and go to the gym. I learned discipline and that I can actually be consistent.”

Who they are rooting for

With the finale getting closer, both housemates already have clear favourites they hope will go all the way.  Wanda is rooting for several contestants he bonded with during the competition, including Liema, Trixie, Ashay, Que and Didi.

“I would really love to see Que win based on the story that he has and the dreams that he has. I love someone who dreams. I’m a big dreamer myself, and Que has some very big dreams,” he said.

The Don, meanwhile, says he is supporting Ashay and Bravo B, two housemates with whom he formed strong connections.

“I’m definitely rooting for Ashay and Bravo B,” he said. “I told them they’re my boys and even outside the house I’d like to be friends with them.” He said their personal journeys inspired him during their time in the house.

“With Bravo, I know that he was bullied in his season, two seasons ago. I feel like if he wins, that would make him happy and block the noise from the outside,” he explained.

The Don also pointed to Ashay’s situation after losing his professional football contract.

“Losing a contract unexpectedly is not good. You have bills to pay. So him being in the 'Big Brother' house is a big thing for him.”
