Metro FM Midday link-up host, Lerato Kganyago, will host the 20th Metro FM Music Awards alongside award-winning actor and TV presenter Lawrence Maleka.

This is Kganyago's second time hosting the Metro FM Music Awards. She hosted in 2023 with Katleg Maboe in Mbombela.

The Metro FM Music Awards are taking place in Durban, and Kganyago couldn't be more excited. "It's fantastic," she reflected.

"It's funny, the last time I was at the Metro FM Music Awards in Durban, I was not part of Metro FM. I had just joined SABC. I was doing a show called 'The Link' on SABC,  so it's a full circle.

"I'm back again. I'm going to be on the black carpet, but also hosting, so I'm very excited about it."

The station's newest on-air talents, Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena and Siyabonga “Scoop” Ngwekazi, will host the Green Room, keeping winners and nominees buzzing.

A lover of fashion, Kganyago is excited to bring the stage to life with her outfits and the night in general. "It's going to be an extremely explosive night. It's going to be amazing."

This year's awards introduce two new categories, Best Maskandi and Best Lekompo, honouring the popular South African genres.

"As a girl who comes from Limpopo, it's fantastic that we've been recognised. The genre is being recognised worldwide, in fact. Not only in Durban, but it's just being appreciated. Music brings us together.

"It doesn't matter whether it's lekompo, whether it's a qgom, maskandi. It really doesn't matter. Music is one language.

Metro FM has revealed a star-studded host line-up for the awards night. The station's newest on-air talents, Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena and Siyabonga “Scoop” Ngwekazi, will host the Green Room, keeping winners and nominees buzzing.

Last year, Scoop dazzled audiences on the main stage alongside "The Touchdown" co-host Luthando "Loot Love" Shosha.

The Black Carpet sponsored by Africa Fashion International (AFI), will be hosted by DJ Lamiez Holworthy, ensuring a glamorous arrival for all stars.

Metro FM’s Zola Mhlongo will serve as the show’s announcer. A new addition to this year's Metro FM Music Awards is the addition of Grammy Award-winning music icon and producer Zakes Bantwini as music director.
