The streets of Berlin were transformed into a sea of military jackets and aviator sunglasses on Friday night, April 10, as thousands of fans gathered for the highly anticipated international premiere of "Michael".
While the biopic, starring the late icon's nephew, Jaafar Jackson, drew global eyes, it was a select group of South African icons who stole the spotlight on the red carpet.
Choreographer and media powerhouse Bontle Modiselle led the South African delegation, arriving in a look that paid high-fashion homage to Michael Jackson himself.
Draped in a female reimagining of the icon's legendary style, Modiselle described the experience as an "absolute dream".
Taking to Instagram to share her experience, she credited her striking look to a powerhouse local team.
"The Michael Movie World Premiere in Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪 was an absolute DREAM! Truly honoured to have received this invitation. Modiselle was in excellent company, spotted alongside other South African trailblazers who were invited to witness the film's debut.
The Mzansi squad in attendance included Gqeberha-born TikTok star Chad Jones, multimedia personality Hope Ramafalo, award-winning singer Bobby van Jaarsveld and "Bone of My Bones" actor Solomon Sebothoma.

The premiere served as a poignant tribute to the Jackson legacy. The South African stars shared the space with Michael’s children, Bigi and Prince Jackson, as well as his brothers Jackie, Jermaine and Marlon Jackson.
Jaafar Jackson, who carries the weight of portraying his uncle, revealed that he prepared for the role by immersing himself in personal memories and extensive archival footage.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film charts Michael's meteoric rise from the Motown days of the Jackson 5 to the solo era of "Thriller" and "Beat It", meticulously recreating the iconic fashion that defined an era.
