Controversial blogger Musa Khawula has responded to a court ruling against him by sharing a pointed message on social media instead of issuing the required apology to Julius Malema.
On Tuesday, April 14, the Gauteng High Court ruled that Khawula’s claims about Malema and his wife, Mantoa Matlala-Malema, were unlawful and defamatory. Justice Gregory Wright found that there were no divorce proceedings and confirmed that the couple’s marriage, which began in December 2014, remains intact.
Khawula had alleged earlier this year that Malema and his wife were heading for a divorce due to alleged infidelity.
The court rejected these claims and ordered Khawula to retract his statements, pay legal costs and issue a public apology within 24 hours.
Instead of complying, Khawula posted a clip from the song “Sorry” by Beyoncé. In the video, the repeated line “I ain’t sorry” plays, signalling his refusal to apologise.
In the caption, Khawula addressed Malema directly, writing, “hi @Julius_S_Malema baby, please find the attached statement for your earliest convenience.”
He continued by stating that he stood by his claims and would not apologise.
His response has raised concerns about possible legal consequences.
Legal observers and social media users have warned that failing to follow a court order could result in contempt of court charges.
Reactions on X have been mixed.
User @Berry wrote, “Julius Malema is going to learn that, you don't fight with someone who has nothing to lose!”
Another user, @zeeontv, said, “This is not about Julius Malema anymore. You are undermining the court, and it's gonna backfire very badly.”
Meanwhile, @msmonakhisi commented, “Julius got a lot to deal with. I don’t know why he is entertaining gossip, especially from Musa.”
The matter remains ongoing as attention turns to whether further legal action will follow.
