Gwen Stefani is speaking openly about the role faith has played in her life, including how she believes it shaped one of her most personal moments: the birth of her son at 44.

The "Sweet Escape" recently shared her story during a conversation with Christian author Jeff Cavins.

During the discussion, Stefani reflected on her upbringing in a Catholic household and the influence it had on her life from an early age.

“I think as a child it was such a grounding thing,” she explained, adding that her mother played a significant role in nurturing that belief system. According to the singer, her mother encouraged faith because she believed it would guide her through life.

“I think my mom was the one that planted the seed of faith in me,” Stefani said.

The singer also shared the story behind the birth of her third son, Apollo Rossdale, who was born in 2014. She described his arrival as an impactful moment that followed an unexpected series of events within her family.

According to Stefani, the idea of having another child first came from her eldest son, Kingston Rossdale, who asked his mother if she could have another baby. At the time, Stefani said she believed it was unlikely.

“I said, ‘I’m sorry, your mommy’s too old to have a baby now',” she recalled.

What happened next surprised her. Kingston began praying regularly for his mother to have another child.

“He was like, ‘Please God let my mom have a baby',” she said. “I just remember thinking, look at my little boy, he’s praying for me.”

Stefani explained that she had not asked him to do so, and that he had begun praying on his own. She said the moment stayed with her because of how sincere it felt.

Weeks later, Stefani discovered she was pregnant.

“I had Apollo at 44 years old, naturally,” she said. “Totally a full-on gift. And that was the first miracle.”

While Stefani’s reflections focused largely on faith and family, her recent partnership with the Hallow app has also drawn criticism online.

The prayer and meditation platform has previously worked with celebrities including Mark Wahlberg and Chris Pratt. However, it has also faced scrutiny due to the political affiliations of some of its backers, including US vice president JD Vance and technology billionaire Peter Thiel.

Critics have pointed to the app’s links to conservative political figures and its association with anti-abortion messaging as reasons for concern. Some users have also questioned the platform’s subscription-based model and the types of religious figures featured in its content.

As a result, Stefani has faced backlash on social media from people who feel her involvement indirectly promotes those views.

Despite the criticism, the singer’s recent interview centred on her personal experience with faith and the moments she believes shaped her life, particularly the unexpected journey that led to the birth of her youngest child.
