American fashion designer and the creative director of the luxury fashion brand Schiaparelli, Daniel Roseberry, revealed the inspiration behind his Spring/Summer 2026 collection “The Agony and The Ecstasy” that was unveiled during Paris Couture Week on Monday, January 26.

The luxury fashion brand shared a video on social media with Roseberry sharing the inspiration behind the collection and what kind of emotions he wanted to evoke through this collection.

“The beginning of the season, I had two questions for myself. The first question was 'how do I use anger?' Because I think there's a lot of anger in the world right now. There’s a lot of poison.

“And then the second question was, 'Where is the joy of creation?' And are the two things [anger and joy] linked?

“And so I wanted to call this collection ‘The Agony and The Ecstasy'."

Roseberry added that while creating and designing this collection, he chose not prioritise how something looked but rather how he felt while creating it.

“The last few seasons felt so rigorous, controlled and very disciplined. And this one felt like it wanted to be way more expressive, way more creatively vulnerable and bold,” the designer said.

“It’s sort of this incredible combination, I think, of the most sophisticated techniques, the most powerful silhouettes, the most dramatic, intense, aggressive, silhouette-driven collection,” Roseberry added.

With this collection, Roseberry also re-created the stolen jewellery from the infamous Louvre heist last year.

Singer and Oscar nominee, Teyana Taylor, arrived at the Schiaparelli fashion show wearing a re-created antique silver head crown with pearls and rhinestones, as well as an antique silver chandelier brooch, dressed by the luxury fashion brand.

While models on the runway also wore some of the re-created jewellery.

Some pieces in his collection are also inspired by birds and feature feathers, wings, and not forgetting some of the heels that also include surrealist and sculptural elements that look like a peacock, a bird and a snake head.

With this collection, Roseberry did not solely focus on fashion but rather on the artistic side of fashion.

Some of the statement pieces perfectly shown are just stunning and beautifully capture the essence of both luxury fashion and art.
