From dazzling fans on the rugby field to being named GQ South Africa’s Best Dressed in 2025, Springboks and Sharks player Makazole Mapimpi is cementing his name in the fashion industry.
The rugby player has recently soft launched his very own clothing label, elevè, at Armitage Mens Outfitters in Umhlanga, north of Durban.
This exciting venture focuses on men’s casual apparel, showcasing Mapimpi's unique style and vision.
Mapimpi took to TikTok to share a video of the event, expressing his enthusiasm for this new chapter in his life.
“Here’s to new beginnings 🖤. To stepping into rooms you’ve never been in. To building something from scratch. To doing something new… even when it scares you. Growth doesn’t come from comfort. It comes from courage. Proud to introduce a new chapter. Let’s elevate,” said Mapimpi.
He also extended his gratitude to those who supported his event, stating: “@elevestudiosclo soft launch went a little like this ❤️🔥. Huge thank you to everyone who came out and all the supportive messages 🙏.”

According to the clothing label’s website, elevè means "elevated", and for Mapimpi, this word represents more than just success, it embodies a journey.
“From walking to school barefoot and owning just one pair of jeans to standing on the world’s biggest rugby stages, Mapimpi’s story is one of resilience, growth and belief.
"As a young boy, he would wake up before sunrise to wash his single pair of jeans, hang them out to dry, iron them, and restyle them with different t-shirts or hoodies so they felt new again. Even then, style was a form of expression, a quiet confidence in the making," read the website.
Mapimpi has always been intentional with his fashion journey. He has utilised his TikTok page to give fans a glimpse of his style off the field.
His TikTok account has become a hub for style inspiration, with his fit-check videos earning him widespread praise.
He has become a celebrated style icon, known for blending sporty masculinity with fashion finesse.
His wardrobe ranges from formal suits to trendy streetwear, reflecting his strong sense of style and self-expression.
In recognition of his fashion influence, "GQ Magazine" named him Best Dressed Editor’s Choice for 2025.
Additionally, in 2024, he was appointed as the brand ambassador for Relevance For Men Tailored Suits, further solidifying his status in the fashion industry.
His Springboks teammates have also recognised him as the most stylish in the camp.
Offering fashion advice to his fans, he once stated, “We’re not rich yet, but we look like it. Take care of yourself.”
With the launch of elevè, Mapimpi is not just making a name for himself in rugby but is also carving out a significant space in the fashion world, inspiring many along the way.
