Cardi B has opened up about some of the luxury items she regrets purchasing, including Hermes bags.

American rapper Cardi B, real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, is getting candid about luxury fashion, admitting that not all designer purchases are worth the hype - or the price tag.
During a recent appearance on the "Aspire with Emma Grede" podcast, the 33-year-old musician reflected on her past spending habits, revealing she regrets splurging on certain high-end items, including designer bags and flashy jewellery.
“Sometimes I’ll look at my closet and think, these bags are kind of ugly,” she said.
Cardi B explained that even highly coveted items like Hermès Birkin bags don’t always live up to their reputation over time.
“Sometimes I’ll look at my closet and think, these bags are kind of ugly. And even with jewellery, sometimes I’ll be like: ‘wow, nobody wears these chains anymore’. Why did I buy a chain with my name on it so big? It’s so ugly.”
Offering advice to fans and fashion lovers, the rapper emphasised the importance of investing in timeless pieces rather than trend-driven items.
“Don’t buy a chain with your name on it. That’s not timeless. Now if you buy a tennis necklace or bracelet, it’s timeless,” she said.
She added that classic items can be worn for years without losing their appeal, making them a smarter investment in the long run.
When asked about her most regrettable purchases, the Grammy-winning artist didn’t hesitate to point to jewellery.
“Jewellery styles change every two to three years. And I’ll ask myself, why did I buy this. It’s so ugly?”
She also reflected on the fluctuating value of luxury goods, particularly designer handbags.
“Make sure you buy timeless Hermes bags because I have so many of them and it’s like…The value of certain things just go up and down, and it’s like oh my god, I just spent so much money on this.”
A clip of the interview has since gone viral on TikTok, sparking widespread discussion among netizens who largely agreed with her take.

Cardi B’s ex-husband, Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was recently injured in a shooting near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida.
Offset was taken to the hospital following the incident.
They share three children and have had an on-and-off relationship since 2017.
The pair are separated, and Cardi B announced that she had filed for divorce in July 2024. However, they were recently spotted together before the shooting incident.
