1 dead, 3 critical in DBN accident

A woman has died, and three people are in a critical condition after an accident between a minibus taxi and a bakkie, in Pinetown, on Tuesday, KZN police said.

Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane said the taxi allegedly encroached into the path of the travelling bakkie and the two collided along Otto Volek road at around 9am.

Paramedics attending the scene said a six-year-old boy was among those with minor injuries.

MedixEMS spokesman Garrith Jamieson said of the critically injuried patients, a 25-year-old woman was airlifted to the nearest hospital. She was fighting for her life, he said, with head and chest injuries.

No one from the bakkie was hurt. - IOL
