Radio personality, author, and voice-over artist Carol Ofori has launched an inspirational podcast that delves into the personal journeys of people who have overcome struggles.

The podcast, titled ‘The Comeback’, is a series dedicated to telling the real-life stories of everyday people who have triumphed over extraordinary adversity.

‘The Comeback’, which airs every Thursday, explores people's personal journeys, the toughest moments and how they found their way back and were now stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever.

“In a world flooded with perfection on social media, I wanted to create a space where real stories could be heard. Stories of grit, grief, healing, and hope.

“The Comeback is for anyone who needs to be reminded that no matter how hard life gets, it’s possible to rise again,” said Ofori.

She said when she put out the call for stories of resilience, she did not struggle to find them.

"Some stories did not have happy endings. We wanted stories where people rose above the challenge and came back stronger. We wanted happy endings," she said.

The 10 episode series features unsung heroes to public figures who’ve faced deeply personal battles.

Kicking off the first episode last week Thursday was Jes Foord, a rape survivor who now leads an NPO supporting victims of sexual violence.

"When you hear Jes tell her story you get a different perspective. You also hear how she chose to live life and the impactful work she does.

"In the second episode on Thursday we hear from Dr Thabani Mazibuko, a rural dreamer turned space technology expert. He is an African pioneer and chairperson of the SA Space Technology for Sustainable Development Foundation. He has shown us how space can be used to better the world," said Ofori.

Other guests to feature on ‘The Comeback’ include Davina Nolas, known for her appearance on The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice, as she opens up about her heartbreaking journey through eight miscarriages on her path to motherhood.

There is also Zamani Ndimande, who rose from petrol attendant to music industry powerhouse; and Devina Kowlas, who speaks candidly about her journey through loss and resilience on the road to motherhood.

Other episodes include conversations with everyday South Africans who share their own experiences of transformation after trauma.

Ofori said their stories are raw, powerful, and deeply inspiring.

"While the names may not always be familiar, the stories will resonate deeply. ‘The Comeback’ reminds us that healing is never linear, and strength often comes from the most unexpected places.

“This podcast is for anyone who’s ever felt like giving up. These stories remind you that you’re not alone, and you can overcome,” she said.

'The Comeback' marks season 3 of Ofori's podcasts.

"The first two seasons I looked at issues that intrigued me personally, but for this season I wanted something more niche and had a particular message that left people feeling a sense of upliftment," said Ofori.

Listen to ‘The Carol Ofori Podcast’ every Thursday on the East Coast Radio website, iono fm, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or watch on YouTube.

Ofori's previous podcasts were nominated for the prestigious 2024 African Podcast and Voice Awards (APVA) in the Lifestyle and Entertainment category and the DSTV content creator awards.
