The Ballito Pro: A celebration of surf culture and entertainment

There will be daily beach recreational activities and entertainment at Willard Beach at the Ballito Pro

The 56th edition of The Ballito Pro has kicked off with sport, entertainment and vibrant lifestyle events.

Presented by O’Neill, this year’s festival programme which runs until July 6 in the coastal town of KwaDukuza, will give festival goers an opportunity to watch the world’s best surfers in action as well as enjoy a host of entertainment.

The international surf and lifestyle event is taking place at Willard Beach.

Each day of the festival, Willard Beach will host a vibrant mix of beach recreational entertainment offering something for every member of the family from beach activities, fashion shows, children’s activities, and interactive competitions.

The Starfit Fitness Festival will include various fitness and dance sessions at La Montagne Hotel & Resort.

South Africa’s best skateboarders will compete for the top titles in the O’Neill Ballito Bowl Skate Jam taking place on Saturday, 28 June.

Festival goers, can also enjoy drumming workshops, interactive beach pop-up sessions, and strongman competitions.

South Africa’s top skateboarders will showcase some stunts on Saturday, June 28, at the O'Neill Ballito Bowl Skate Jam. There will also be biking displays and an airshow.

There will be food and drinks, and the chance to explore the arts and crafts.

The Ballito Pro Music Concerts, a free three-day music festival, will spotlight some of South Africa’s popular artists such as David Birch (Squeal), Matt Wilkinson (Perez), John Ellis (Tree 63), Heather Mac (Ella Mental), Gavin Meiring (Arapaho), Rob Warren (The Black Lapels), Gary Nixon (Kickstands), DJ Merlon, DJ Sox, Matthew Mole, Saxby Twins, and Kyle Cassim.

Collette Bundy, festival organiser, said they were bringing back the festival favourites and adding  more to this years line-up.

“This year’s theme, ‘Sea-Sound-Waves’, reflects our celebration of surf culture, music, and sustainability. Visitors can expect an unforgettable experience, day and night,” said Bundy.
