Imbiza Performing Arts, a local non-profit organisation, has received a cash injection of R12 000 in celebration of Heritage Day.

The organisation, based in Umlazi, nurtures  and empowers children aged 6 to 18 through a wide range of cultural programmes, including music, dance, drama, and traditional arts.

Their aim in the community is to keep young people positively engaged and away from the dangers of drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, and alcohol misuse.

The donation to Imbiza Performing Arts was from Umlazi Mega City as part of its commitment to community development.

The initiative forms part of the mall’s ongoing Connect to Give campaign, which focuses on giving back to the community when shoppers connect to the free mall’s Wi-Fi.

Each time shoppers connect to the mall’s Wi-Fi, they watch short advertisements and a portion of the advertising revenue generated is contributed directly to the Connect to Give Fund.

“This means that the more our community connects, the more we are able to donate towards local causes and upliftment projects, we strongly believe that together, one connection at a time, we can make a meaningful difference,” said Donald Mclellan National Marketing Manager.

"Imbiza Performing Arts is doing vital work, and we are proud to contribute to their mission and therefore, we are honoured to support an organisation that not only preserves our rich cultural heritage but also creates safe spaces for our youth to thrive," said Noluthando Cele, Umlazi Mega City Marketing Manager.
