A RICHARDS BAY family is preparing to bury their loved one whose body was found after he was reported missing.

The family of Ranjan Sew raised the alarm of his disappearance on Tuesday and received the news on Thursday of his murder.

Sew, 55, a former salesman, had left his home in Brackenham on Tuesday morning as he was supposed to go to the local clinic for his chronic medication.

Sew's brother-in-law, Louis Naidoo, said the family was traumatised and struggling to come to terms with the brutal loss.

"It appears after he left home he never reached the clinic. On Tuesday afternoon the family were alerted that he had not fetched two passengers whom he usually fetches from work in the afternoon.

"My son then received an anonymous call stating that they spotted the vehicle, a white Toyota Avanza, with a sticker that had my son's company details, in Aquadene. It was in a bad state. My son and I drove around Aquadene in search of Ranjan but could not find him or the vehicle," said Naidoo.

He said they then reported him as a missing person to the police.

"Ranjan's phone was off at the time and his vehicle did not have a tracking device. Friends, family and the community police forum helped in the search. We even contacted the security company Reaction Unit South Africa to help us find Ranjan.

"We were then informed that police stopped the vehicle in Jozini, which is about 150km away, with two males. They were brought back to Richards Bay and Ranjan's body was then located in a bush in Aquadene. It looked like he was killed on the road and dragged into the bushes. His body was covered with cardboard and timber," said Naidoo.

He said they were thankful to the police because had they not found Sew, his body would have been in a decomposed state and no one would have found him.

"Where he was found was about 4km from the clinic. I think he may have known his attackers or could identify them therefore they killed him.

"Ranjan was a timid person, who was friendly and jovial. As a family we just want justice for him," said Naidoo.

Sew was not married and had no children.

Police spokesperson, Captain Ntathu Ndlovu, confirmed that the victim was reported missing on Tuesday and that in the early hours of Thursday a vehicle matching the description of the victim's vehicle was located.

"Two men between the ages of 30 and 32 years old were found in possession of the vehicle. They were taken into custody. The suspects have been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and murder. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon," said Ndlovu.

Following Sew's disappearance former colleagues and friends took to social media and described him as the sweetest person, an amazing humble person, who was bubbly and kind-hearted.

Sew's funeral will take place tomorrow.
