DURBAN'S Metro Police are yet to respond to allegations that their officers failed to intervene during an armed robbery at a Durban shopping centre.

In viral footage, a Metro Police patrol vehicle can be seen entering the mall’s parking lot moments after a heavily armed gang allegedly robbed a store. The suspects are seen offloading stolen goods from trolleys into their getaway vehicle.

As the officers drive into the lot, the armed men appear to turn their attention towards the police vehicle. Instead of engaging, the officers continue driving and park at the mall.

The footage has sparked outrage on social media, with many users accusing Metro Police of failing to act. Others, however, argue that the officers may have been outnumbered and inadvertently stumbled upon the incident.

Questions have been sent to SAPS and Durban Metro Police for official comment.
