In an extraordinary celebration of longevity and resilience, the Crocworld Conservation Centre on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast is gearing up to honour its legendary resident Nile crocodile, Henry, on his remarkable 125th birthday this Tuesday.
As the oldest known Nile crocodile in captivity, Henry's milestone is not just a testament to his life, but also an invitation for people of all ages to unite in celebration.
The festivities at the centre in Scottburgh will kick off at 10 am, where visitors can take part in a joyful rendition of “Happy Birthday” for the birthday boy.
For those who arrive early, a sweet surprise awaits: free cupcakes to enjoy while Henry indulges in a specially prepared birthday feast designed to delight the senses.
“This is one of the highlights of our year and we’re encouraging families from near and far to come out, celebrate with us, and enjoy a truly memorable day at Crocworld,” said Susan Badat, the centre's manager.
While marking Henry’s birthday, families can also be part of Crocworld’s festive line-up, which includes the Secret Santa Pop-Up, face painting, jumping castles, and a colour run.
Local craft vendors will be selling goods in the Crocworld car park during the festive season between 9am and 3pm.
