eMtee Records has apologised to fans following a disappointing performance by the award-winning rapper eMtee in Pretoria this week.

In a statement released on Thursday, the record label explained that the show, which took place on December 16 in honour of Reconciliation Day, was adversely affected by the artist's fatigue stemming from an exceptionally demanding performance schedule.

According to the label, eMtee, whose real name is Mthembeni Ndevu, had performed at five different venues on the same day as part of a nationwide summer tour, following weeks of back-to-back shows across the country.

"The demanding pace took its toll and affected his ability to deliver the high-energy performance fans expect," the statement read.

The label acknowledged the disappointment felt by fans who attended the Pretoria show and expressed regret for not meeting their expectations.

"eMtee is deeply sorry and is committed to making it right," the statement continued, adding that discussions were underway with event organisers to arrange a follow-up performance for fans in the capital.

eMtee Records highlighted that the artist's packed schedule was motivated by a desire to connect with his supporters, but conceded that the intense workload had an impact on his performance.

The label further emphasised its commitment to prioritising both the well-being of its artists and the satisfaction of fans, thanking supporters for their continued understanding and loyalty.

Details regarding the proposed follow-up show are expected to be announced soon.

A video that circulated on social media during the Reconciliation Day holiday showed the artist appearing to doze off on stage and struggling to keep up with lip-syncing his music.

The "Roll-Up" and "Pearl Thusi" hitmaker seemed to be murmuring incoherently before being whisked off stage.

This is not the first time eMtee has faced controversy for his on-stage antics; seven years ago, he collapsed during a performance in Lephalale, Limpopo, with fatigue cited as the cause.
