Popular Gagasi FM breakfast host Felix Hlophe has been temporarily taken off-air as the Durban-based radio station moves to "further assess the situation being reported on social media and in various publications."
The station confirmed in a statement issued on Monday that Hlophe, host of The Uprising, will be given time off air for the coming week to allow him to attend to personal matters while internal processes unfold.
"This will allow the station to further assess the situation… and to give Felix the space to attend to personal matters requiring his attention," Gagasi FM said.
Following the initial period off-air, Hlophe will be placed on scheduled leave for an additional two weeks. The station said it would not comment further while the matter is being handled internally.
Hlophe is expected to return to the mic on 19 January 2026.
In the interim, the radio station announced that Heazy will step in as stand-in host of The Uprising. The station also confirmed that the crossover show will be handled by Selbyonce and Linda “Mr Magic” Sibiya. The crossover show is a popular show where the radio station counts down the most popular songs of the year. The winning song ushers in the new year and earns the artist or band, bragging rights.

Gagasi FM did not disclose details of the reported matter currently circulating online, however, on Saturday Hlophe released a statement following the circulation of videos that went viral where he was captured in an exchange with occupants of the house where his wife, Tracy Hlophe, had decided to temporarily stay in.
In another video he is shown persistently hooting at the gate of the property.
Hlophe was accused of arriving early morning on Christmas Eve at the house demanding to see his children and wife. Verbal insults were exchanged and the radio presenter who is also a stand up comedian was accused of assaulting a gardener at the property, a claim the presenter denied. None of the videos shared show any assault.
In the statement Hlophe acknowledged that emotions ran high when he was with his mother-in-law who accompanied him to fetch his wife and children.
"The videos currently circulating online do not reflect the full context of the situation and only present a partial version of the events," Hlophe said, adding that security and the South African Police Service were called as a precaution to diffuse the situation.
The radio presenter said his wife and children spent Christmas with him and on Boxing Day, he posted a video of himself, his wife and children hanging out at in a marquee at an event.
It is not the first time that the radio station's breakfast co-host finds themselves in trouble as earlier this year, Hlophe's co-host Minnie Ntuli was also put off-air after a physical altercation with a cast member of The Real Housewives of Durban, singer and businesswoman, Londie London.
