Limpopo rap sensation Shebeshxt, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Chauke, is reportedly facing internal disciplinary action after a video call from behind bars exposed the possession of contraband.
The controversy erupted after a friend of the rapper, identified as "Flower" from the music group Dhem Scott, shared a screengrab of a video call with the artist on social media. Because mobile phones are strictly prohibited for inmates, the post immediately alerted Department of Correctional Services (DCS) authorities to the presence of contraband in the cell.
Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, confirmed that an incident involving two awaiting-trial prisoners is under investigation. While Shebeshxt’s lawyer, Lot Ramusi, noted he had been informed of the allegations, he dismissed them as "baseless."
The Lekompo music genre star has been in custody since late last year. He is currently facing a laundry list of serious charges, including, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery with aggravating circumstances, malicious damage to property and two counts of attempted murder.

In December 2025, the Polokwane High Court dealt a major blow to the rapper’s legal team. Judge Natalie Burnet upheld a previous ruling by Senior Magistrate Godfrey Netshiozwi, denying Shebeshxt bail.
The rapper had pleaded for release, citing his role as a breadwinner, his packed festive season performance schedule, and his wife’s high-risk pregnancy. Despite these pleas, the court deemed him a flight risk or a danger to the proceedings. His wife has since given birth while he remains in custody. On New Year's Day, while in prison, his hit song Rato Laka featuring Zee Nxumalo, Naqua SA, and Slidoo Man, won Thobela FM's Song of the Year for 2025.
Shebeshxt is scheduled to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates' Court on February 17, 2026, for the commencement of his trial. If the contraband allegations are proven, he could face additional internal charges, further complicating his bid for freedom.
