Gauteng police have arrested a female suspect following the brutal killing of an e-hailing driver in Pretoria West on Wednesday.

Authorities say more arrests are imminent as investigations continue into the shocking crime that has gripped the province.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Mavela Masondo, said preliminary reports suggest the victim was attacked by a male and female passenger who had requested an e-hailing service.

"The driver's hijacked vehicle and his body were later discovered in Atteridgeville on the same day," said Masondo.

Masondo added that the suspect is expected to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing charges that include murder and car hijacking.

The arrest comes after a disturbing video circulated on social media, showing a young man being assaulted while seated in his vehicle.

The footage, shared by anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee on X on Wednesday, depicts a woman in a beige bucket hat and white t-shirt in the front seat, while a man seated behind her repeatedly attacked the driver before they both fled the scene.

According to information circulating online, the victim has been identified as Isaac Satlat, a 22-year-old Nigerian national who worked as a Bolt driver.

Satlat was allegedly a student, with his graduation scheduled for next month, and was preparing to relocate to Canada to further his studies.

Masondo confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that additional suspects may soon be taken into custody.

Police had earlier issued a statement condemning the circulation of the video which had gone viral on social media.

"The police strongly condemn the circulation of the video that depicts what appears to be a gruesome murder of the victim,” said Masondo.

The urgent arrest comes after the Provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, had assigned a senior detective to urgently investigate the matter and stressed that those responsible will be tracked down and brought to justice.
