Gauteng police have expressed grave concern after a disturbing video circulated on social media showing a young man being attacked while seated in his vehicle.

The footage, which appears to capture a gruesome killing, has drawn sharp condemnation from authorities, who have urged the public not to share or repost the clip.

"Police in Gauteng have noted with serious concern a disturbing video circulating on social media, of a person being attacked by a male and female while on the driver's seat of a motor vehicle," said police.

Provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni has assigned a senior detective to urgently investigate the incident, establish whether it occurred in Gauteng, and ensure that those responsible are tracked down and brought to justice.

The video, shared by anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee on X on February 11, depicts an alleged e-hailing driver being assaulted in Pretoria West.

The video shows a woman in a beige bucket hat and a white t-shirt in the front seat, while a man seated behind her, assaulted the driver. The pair then fled the scene.

According to information circulating on social media, the victim has been allegedly identified as Isaac Satlat, a 22-year-old Nigerian national who worked as an e-hailing driver for Bolt.

Allegedly his body, along with the abandoned vehicle, was discovered several kilometers away in Moshongo, Attridgeville.

A news page on X, well known as CrimeinSA ,claim Satlat was a student, with his graduation scheduled for next month. He was allegedly preparing to relocate to Canada to further his studies.

Police and Public Reaction Authorities have strongly condemned the circulation of the video, warning that sharing such content retraumatises victims’ families and hampers investigations.

“We urge social media users to refrain from forwarding or reposting the footage,” police said in a statement.
