Members of the KZN International Business Association (KIBA) embraced the spirit of giving in a profound way by adding colour to Addington Hospital's children's ward.
With the intent of creating a more uplifting atmosphere for young patients, KIBA members banded together last Saturday, Valentine's Day, to repaint and refresh the hospital's children's ward.
Armed with paintbrushes and an abundance of goodwill, their efforts were aimed at transforming the sterile environment into a vibrant, cheerful space full of warmth and colour, in hopes of easing the emotional burden faced by children and their families during difficult times.
They also showered the children with teddy bears, chocolates, and love.
Adding an artistic touch to the endeavour, renowned local artist Nanda Soobben will be bringing the newly painted walls to life with vibrant murals.
KIBA, a business networking organisation comprising business leaders and professionals, its core mandate is to create opportunities for networking as well as opportunities to give back to less privileged communities.
Omie Singh, KIBA's president, said while Valentine’s Day is about love, for them love means action.
"As business leaders, we have a responsibility to extend our impact beyond profit. When we invest in our community, especially our children, we invest in the future of our province," said Singh.
KIBA believes collaboration extends beyond boardrooms and is inviting corporates, SMEs, and change-makers across KwaZulu-Natal to partner in future outreach initiatives, whether through sponsorship, volunteering, or collaborative CSI projects.
