Bolt South Africa has become the first ride-hailing platform in the country to officially register under South Africa's newly implemented transport regulations.
The National Public Transport Regulator (NPTR) issued a Certificate of Registration to Bolt on Friday, February 27, cementing the company's compliance with the contemporary regulatory framework designed to reshape the e-hailing landscape.
The newly instituted regulations aim to formalise and modernise the e-hailing sector, ensuring enhanced safety measures and greater oversight, fostering a secure environment for all parties involved in the e-hailing ecosystem.
Fikile Nzuza-Chunga, Senior Public Policy Manager for Bolt South Africa, expressed her enthusiasm regarding this development: “We have always welcomed the introduction of clear and progressive regulations for the e-hailing sector. From the outset, we have worked closely with regulators and industry stakeholders to ensure compliance and welcome the framework that supports innovation, safety, and sustainable growth.”
She emphasised that receiving the NPTR Certificate of Registration represents an important milestone not just for Bolt but also for the wider e-hailing industry, reinforcing trust and safety for drivers and passengers alike.
