In an effort to provide vital support and education ahead of the Muslim holy pilgrimage of Hajj, the South African Hajj & Umrah Council (SAHUC) will host an informative webinar today specifically aimed at women.
The initiative seeks to empower women pilgrims by helping them spiritually prepare for one of the most significant journeys in Islam, the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. South African pilgrims are expected to depart from the end of April.
Yaseera Ally, SAHUC's national administrator, said this is the first time that they will be hosting a dedicated women-only Hajj webinar.
"The intention behind the separate session is to create a comfortable space where women can openly discuss and learn about topics specific to female pilgrims, including practical and spiritual aspects of the Hajj journey.
"This session will help guide participants through the key stages of the Hajj journey, offering valuable insight into one of the most important acts of worship in Islam. The discussion will explore the experiences and rituals that take place during the days of Hajj, including the movement between the sacred sites of Mina, Arafah, and Muzdalifah," she said.
Ally said participants will gain a deeper understanding of the spiritual significance of these moments and how to approach them with the right intention and preparation.
This unique webinar will guide participants through the key stages of the Hajj journey, offering valuable insights into the rituals and experiences that occur during this sacred pilgrimage.
Participants can expect to explore significant moments, such as the journey from Mina, the pivotal Day of Arafah, and rituals at Muzdalifah, as well as the rites of Rami and the Farewell Tawaaf that concludes the pilgrimage.
The webinar will be presented by experienced female educators, Muallimah Amina Adams and Bint Ismail, who will share guidance, reflections, and practical advice for women preparing for Hajj.
"This initiative forms part of SAHUC’s ongoing commitment to providing education and support to pilgrims. Women planning for Hajj, as well as those wishing to learn more about the spiritual journey of Hajj, are encouraged to attend," she said.
The webinar today will take place at 12.
