Merewent Cheshire Home is appealing to the community, businesses, and individuals to come forward with donations and pledges to secure the future of its vital services for persons living with disabilities.

The Home provides residential care, dignity, and essential support to individuals with severe physical disabilities. However, it faces pressing financial challenges, including the need to replace a specially adapted transport vehicle, settle municipal arrears, and fund daily operational costs such as staffing and medical supplies.

“The generous contribution by Vivian Reddy is more than a donation – it is a call to action,” said Chairman Raven Naidoo. “We urge corporates and individuals alike to come forward and support this cause. Together, we can ensure that our residents continue to live with dignity, care, and hope.”

To mobilize support, the Home will host the “10 Calls of Kindness” Telethon on March 25–26, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 15 Eksteen Road, Merewent. Community members can participate by calling 10 contacts to make a pledge or by donating directly to the cause.

Residents, businesses, and supporters can contribute in several ways:

  • Sponsor or fund a new disability-friendly transport vehicle

  • Help settle municipal arrears

  • Provide financial or in-kind support for operational sustainability

  • Become a Champion of Kindness and inspire others to give

Every contribution, no matter the size, strengthens the Home’s ability to provide care and support for its residents.

“Be a Champion. Be the Difference. Support Merewent Cheshire Home today,” Naidoo urged, highlighting the impact of collective generosity on the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of society.
