Throngs of ANC members and congregants gathered in solemn unity at the eThekwini Community Churc, Durban, on Saturday, their hearts heavy yet proud, to honour the life of Sdudla Mhlongo — a tireless servant of the movement whose love, sacrifice and unwavering spirit will live on in the soul of the ANC.

Mhlongo was a devoted merchandiser who, over many years, sold ANC regalia and crisscrossed the country in loyal service of the organisation she so deeply believed in.

Mourners gathered at the eThekwini Community Church to pay their last respects to ANC merchandiser, Sdudla Mhlongo, who will be laid to rest at her home in eShowe today. In the podium is ANC eThekwini Regional Task Team Deputy Coordinator Musa Nciki.

She was also a committed member of the ANC Women’s League (ANCWL) in KwaZulu-Natal and a dedicated congregant of the eThekwini Community Church (ECC), where her coffin lay in state before those she loved — her church family and her comrades.

Among those who came to pay their respects were ANC KZN second deputy convenor Siboniso Duma, provincial spokesperson Fanle Sibisi, and PTT members Zinhle Cele and  Amanda Bani. They were joined by members of the ANC eThekwini Regional Task Team (RTT), led by deputy coordinator Musa Nciki, as mourners bid farewell to Mhlongo during a moving memorial service ceremony at the eThekwini Community Church.

The ceremony was conducted by Bishop Vusi Dube, the founer of the ECC.

Mhlongo will be laid to rest at her home in eShowe, in the Musa Dladla Region, today.
