Verulam businessman Navin Shurren was found dead on Tuesday morning after failing to return home on Monday night

A 54-year-old self-employed businessman from Verulam, Navin Shurren, was found dead on Tuesday morning after being reported missing the previous night.
Shurren, who lived in Trenance Park, was last seen at approximately 10:30pm on Monday leaving a service station in a white Chevrolet utility vehicle.
Concern grew after he failed to return home, his cellphone was switched off and he could not be located.
According to local security company Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), Shurren’s body was discovered on Estuary Drive in Riverview by members of the public on their way to work.
"Members of the public discovered the body while proceeding to work and alerted First Responders. RUSA members were dispatched to the scene at approximately 06:22 following reports of an unresponsive male.
"On arrival, Reaction Officers located the self employed businessman in a prone position on an embankment. He was dressed in a cream jacket and navy blue pants. Upon assessment, he was unresponsive and had sustained a gunshot wound to the head," said RUSA in a statement.
