KwaZulu-Natal police arrest two suspects for kidnapping and extortion

Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested two suspects linked to kidnapping and extortion cases reported in the Pinetown policing precinct.
The suspects, aged 29 and 35, were arrested on Tuesday, during a coordinated police operation conducted in Clermont and Malvern.
According to police, members of the Pinetown Trio Task Team and the KwaDabeka Field Unit acted on intelligence-driven information supplied by Crime Intelligence regarding suspects allegedly involved in a series of kidnapping and extortion incidents in the area.
The operation led to the arrest of the first suspect in Clermont on Tuesday evening, while the second suspect was apprehended in Malvern later that night.
During the arrest of the second suspect, police recovered two vehicles and a replica firearm believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes.
Both suspects have been charged with kidnapping and extortion. They are expected to appear before the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
