US President Donald Trump has 'set the record straight' following his viral Ai-generated image depicting him as Jesus. Trump said he was intended to be a doctor.

Donald Trump says the now-viral image of himself depicted as Jesus Christ, shared on his Truth Social social media platform, was meant to show him as a doctor healing people.

AFP reported that in the picture, Trump – while lacking a halo – is seen wearing red and white drapes, colors symbolising bloodshed and Christ’s sacrifice for humanity, as well as his absolute purity. Trump is flanked by eagles, fighter jets, and US service members, with the Statue of Liberty and the US flag in the background.

Answering a journalist's question, Trump said it was only the fake media who could have drawn that conclusion.

Admitting that he did share the image, Trump said it was him as a doctor.

"I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do with [the] Red Cross, as a Red Cross worker there, which we support," he told the media.

"Only the fake news could come up with that one. I just heard about it, and I said 'How did they come up with that?' It's supposed to be me as a doctor making people better," the United States president said, adding that he does make people better.

"I make people a lot better," he said.

The religious community has slammed his post as 'blasphemous'.

Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference chairperson Thulani Mbuyisa said any representation, whether by image or technological means, that attributes to a political leader the identity or likeness of Our Lord Jesus Christ is blasphemous and constitutes a grave offence against the Christian faith.

"As followers of Christ, we will not allow any earthly authority, however powerful, to claim a divine identity or to appropriate the symbols of faith in ways that obscure the truth of the Gospel," he said.

The image was shared hours after Trump hurled insults at Pope Leo XIV whom he believes is "WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy."

Pope Leo previously criticized the US-Israeli attack against Iran and described Trump’s threats to destroy Iranian civilization as “truly unacceptable,” saying it amounts to “a threat against the entire people.”
