Africa's time has come to rise and shine on the global stage

Apropos your editorial comment 'SA stands firm as historic G20 concludes' (Sunday Tribune, November 23, 2025) I deem it appropriate to submit this response.

Africa, take a bow.

Africa's time has come; rise and shine.

Strengthen your spine; let freedom's voice be fine.

Remove the blinkers; see the path ahead.

Flow like a river to the sea; you're destined.

Patrice Lumumba dreamt of freedom's call.

Kwame Nkrumah preached it: one stand, one ball.

Muammar Gaddafi promoted unity's fire.

Thabo Mbeki extolled Africa's hour of desire.

Forward like the river, unstoppable and strong

Advance like the tides, where hope belongs.

United you'll rise, take your rightful place.

Denied no more, Africa's time, a new space

Former slavers' chains, no longer your fate

Africa, arise! The future's where you're great!

To his excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa, I address the following:

Mr President, I hold this quote in high esteem: 'We get here how we can. It's what we do here that matters.' From the movie on Amazon Prime G20. I pay tribute to you, Mr President Ramaphosa. Africa pays tribute to you. All freedom-loving people salute and admire you. Palestine salutes you. History will weigh your greatness over your folly and indiscretions. It will probably read like Shakespeare's King Lear's 'He was a man more sinned against than he has sinned.'
