THE deliberate lies shared by eThekwini Municipality regarding the outcome of Wednesday's High Court matter is unsurprising and doesn’t shock us. eThekwini Municipality has become synonymous with lies, corruption and mismanagement.
The municipality falsely claims that the DA has abandoned its case of the appointments of three senior managers. This is a blatant lie and it proves that there is a leadership crisis in eThekwini.
What occurred (as per the draft agreement attached here) is that the court recognised the urgency and importance of the matter and agreed to hear the full case early in the new year.
The DA did not abandon its application.
Myself and the DA eThekwini EXCO team led by the Caucus Chairperson and Leader were in court with our legal team. After a 2-hour deliberation, and by mutual agreement with all the legal teams present, we agreed to set the matter down for hearing on 18,19 and 20 February 2026.
The statement by the municipality is clearly designed to cause confusion and spread misinformation. The DA will not rest until the legality of these three senior appointments has been tested by the court.
