Kaizer Chiefs will look to build momentum heading into the decisive final stretch of the Betway Premiership season when they face Orbit College in Gqeberha on Easter Monday.

Amakhosi travel to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium buoyed by renewed confidence after back-to-back victories over Durban City FC and Magesi FC, results that have revived their campaign at a crucial stage.

Currently sitting fourth on the standings with 36 points from 20 matches, Chiefs have positioned themselves firmly in contention for a strong finish — but what lies ahead could ultimately define their season.

The trip to face Orbit, who are battling relegation, presents an immediate opportunity to extend that momentum and work towards CAF competition qualification

The Rustenburg-based outfit, second from bottom with 18 points, will be desperate for survival points, making this far from a routine assignment.

Chiefs, however, will draw confidence from the reverse fixture earlier in the season, where they secured a 4-1 victory in a high-scoring encounter at FNB Stadium.

It's been a disappointing campaign for the Glamour Boys in the way of silverware, having failed to win a single trophy this season, relinquishing their Nedbank Cup in the process.

While Cedric Kaze attended to national duty in Burundi during the break, the Amakhosi faithful will hope co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef was able to re-energize his group.

Beyond Monday’s clash, the bigger picture begins to take shape.

A home fixture against TS Galaxy follows shortly after, before a tricky away test against Magesi.

Those matches are then quickly succeeded by a demanding run that includes a clash with Polokwane City and, most notably, a Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.

That encounter, scheduled for late April, could carry significant implications — not just for bragging rights, but for the standings themselves.

The challenges do not end there.

Fixtures against Siwelele FC and title contenders Mamelodi Sundowns further underline the scale of what awaits Chiefs in the closing weeks.

A trip to Sekhukhune United and a clash with AmaZulu FC add to the demanding schedule, before they round off their campaign against Chippa United.

It is a run of fixtures that offers both opportunity and risk in equal measure.

Their recent upturn in form has been built on improved stability and contributions from younger players, but sustaining that level across such a demanding sequence will be the real test.

With rivals around them also pushing for position, there is little margin for error.

The clash against Orbit may appear routine on paper, but in the context of what lies ahead, it represents something far greater — a chance to build rhythm, confidence and belief heading into a defining period.

Because in a season where progress has come in waves, the final stretch will demand nothing less than control.
