Kaizer Chiefs will be eager to bag three points and bounce back to winning ways when they visit Siwelele in a Betway Premiership clash at Free State Stadium on Wednesday night (7.30pm kick-off).
Chiefs have been enjoying a purple patch. They are unbeaten in their last seven games, having won five and drawn the other two against Polokwane City and Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby.
With their defence in safe hands, and goalkeeper Brandon Petersen showing his brilliance since the start of the season, we look at three players who must step up against Siwelele.
Wandile Duba – Attacker
Duba showed up in the Soweto derby, making a solo run down the flank before setting up Pule Mmodi to score the opener. His pace, aggression with and without the ball, and eye for an assist or key pass are what make him stand out. However, Duba needs to deliver that on a consistent basis.
Lebohang Maboe – Midfield
Maboe has been a kingpin in Chiefs’ engine room, serving as the link between defence and attack. He thrives on breaking up play and breaking tight lines going forward. However, he can’t afford to rest on his laurels now. He must continue keeping things tidy to ensure that Amakhosi are well-organised in the run-in.
Bradley Cross – Left-back
Cross has been one of Chiefs’ livewires. He has settled under co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, knowing when to track back and push forward, adding numbers in attack. Given his glowing reviews, he needs to finish the season on a high, as that could possibly earn him a Bafana Bafana call-up ahead of the World Cup.
