A series of disturbing videos circulating on social media has sparked concern among parents and education authorities, after violent scenes allegedly filmed at Windermere High School show chaos unfolding on school grounds today (Wednesday).
The three separate clips, widely shared online, appear to capture escalating unrest among learners during what is believed to have been a confrontation.
In one of the videos, learners can be seen pelting rocks and stones at one another, with parts of the school’s front section reportedly damaged in the process. The footage shows groups of pupils scattering and regrouping as objects are hurled across the school grounds.
A second video depicts learners throwing school bags out of upper classroom windows, while an ambulance is stationed below. The presence of emergency services suggests that injuries may have been sustained during the unrest.
In a third clip, police officers are visible on the premises attempting to manage the situation, while learners continue shouting and behaving erratically in the background.
The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has since confirmed that the incident resulted in injuries.
Learners fought pitch battles at Windermere High School in Kensington and police had to intervene. Three learners were stabbed and needed hospital care.

WCED spokesperson Millicent Merton said three learners sustained stab wounds during a fight between two groups on the school premises.
“Three learners sustained stab wounds during a fight between two groups of learners on the school premises this morning. Medical services attended to the injured learners. The incident was reported to Safe Schools, and the school received support from Law Enforcement,” Merton explained.
She added that the school would be following its Code of Conduct to address the matter.
