Cape Town - The South African Weather Services’ latest forecast for this week indicates there may be some cooler weather for most parts of the province, as well as good rainfall across most regions expected from mid-week.

This includes 10-25mm that’s expected for the Cape Metro, Winelands, Overberg and Garden Route regions of the province.

Meanwhile, the average water level for dams in the Western Cape this week stands at 81.3%. This is 1.6% more than at the same time a year ago, when the level was 79.7%.

However, the latest levels for dams providing water to the City of Cape Town are 98.7% compared to 99.3% in 2020.

Local Government and Environmental Affairs MEC Anton Bredell said: “The dam levels are good news. We’ve had two seasons of good rainfall and we are fortunate to be heading into the holiday season with our major dams so full.

“This doesn’t mean we can get complacent and indeed we continue to urge users to use water responsibly on a permanent basis,” he said.

Meanwhile, the City has notified Hout Bay residents that the City’s Water and Sanitation Department has finished the emergency repairs on its water supply main feeding large parts of the area.

In a statement the City said: “The water supply has been restored to the affected part of Hout Bay which has been without water for the past few days.

“Mount Rhodes, Suikerbossie and Llandudno, however, will be supplied with water via water tankers, while the supply to the Suikerbossie reservoir is being attended to,” the statement said.
