Cape Town - Police have yet to arrest the killers of a construction boss who was gunned down in Beacon Valley, Mitchell’s Plain, just days after he was released on R250000 bail.
More than two months after the murder of Abdul Kader Davids, who was facing corruption charges alongside former DA mayco member Malusi Booi and alleged 28s gang boss Ralph Stanfield, police have called on anyone with information to come forward.
Davids died in a hail of bullets while walking in Ascot Street on September 19.
He was outed in an investigation by the City of Cape Town in tender collusion worth R1billion.
The sole director of ZSM Developers came under scrutiny in July when City Manager, Lungelo Mbandazayo, revealed that Davids allegedly colluded with Nicole Johnson and Mohammed Amod of the Boon Group when applying for City tenders.
A handwriting expert was brought in to investigate Mbandazayo’s suspicions that three tender bids were completed by the same person.
It is understood that by colluding, the three directors would ensure that regardless of who the tender was awarded to, Johnson would be in control.
The investigation also found the tender application of ZSM, which was competing with Johnson’s company, was in fact also signed by Johnson’s mother, Barbara.
Davids, who lived in Beacon Valley, told the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court that he was merely a cleaner.
He was granted bail of R250000 despite telling the magistrate that he could only afford R2 500. Police spokesperson, FC van Wyk, yesterday confirmed no arrests have been made.
“We make an appeal to anyone with information to contact the investigating officer Detective Captain Andre Arendse on 071 319 0380 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the MYSAPS application to share information anonymously.”
