Durban — This year’s eagerly anticipated Durban Fashion Fair (#DFF2022) is set to showcase African and local talent.

The DFF will be held from September 21 to 24 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) and will showcase top designers from across the African continent alongside evolving new talent.

The event will also see stakeholders across the fashion value chain come together not only to celebrate the fashion on display but to expose newcomers to the industry.

EThekwini mayor Mxolisi Kaunda said the theme of this year’s DFF was “Expressive expression”.

He said there were confirmed buyers from national textile retail chain stores that will be attending the DFF to scout for new talent.

“We hope they will find what they are looking for, which will result in more of our designers supplying big retail stores. We know that they are more than capable,” he said.

Kaunda said the DFF was an integral part of the broader 2022 Durban Business Fair.

“Clothing and textile are vital in boosting local economic growth,” he said.

He urged the public to support local designers by attending the DFF fashion shows.

The DFF will have a Make-up and Beauty Masterclass sponsored by Edgars Beauty Academy that will be facilitated by well-known make-up artist Lwazi Blose, known as the “Diva Cadach”. There will also be a buyer’s lounge where those in attendance can shop local. And there will be DFF Recognition Awards.

The Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) Recognition Awards is one of the features of this year's DFF programmes. It has 12 categories including rising star. Winners will take home development prizes to grow their businesses. A Buyer’s Lounge will also be available where attendees can buy local products. | Supplied
