Cape Town - Two fun-filled days of superb wines, music, entertainment, children's activities and a variety of pizzas and other rustic foods - the second Stellenbosch Vineyards Pizza & Wine Festival takes place at Welmoed farm on March 25 and 26.
Get ready to tantalise your taste buds and find the perfect culinary match for your favourite wine as you enjoy a variety of pizzas which apparently are not all created equal - gourmet to traditional favourites, vegetarian to Banting, and flamenkuchen to calzones.
Festival guests will also be able to enjoy special offerings served up by the farm's two restaurants.
Celebrity chef Nic van Wyk will be serving up a selection of burgers and tostados at Bistro 13, while the newly opened casual eatery, The Bus Stop, will be dishing up its wood-fired pizzas and decadent waffles.
Together with all this delicious food, there will be the chance to taste the wide range of wines produced by Stellenbosch Vineyards, including the producer's re-established signature Stellenbosch Vineyards range, the farm’s heritage Welmoed range, the innovative Arniston Bay Infusions range and the trendy Versus range. There will also be a dedicated bubbly station serving up a selection of sparkling wines.
As if that was not enough, The Bus Stop will be serving craft beer and other selected drinks. I’m in a food coma already.
Tickets are R160 a person and include entry, a tasting glass, five wine-tasting coupons, three R10 pizza discount vouchers and the entertainment. Children under the age of 18 enter free. Book tickets directly via www.webtickets.co.za or at the Stellenbosch Vineyards tasting room.
The festival runs from 10am till 5pm on both days. Stellenbosch Vineyards at Welmoed Farm is on the R310 (Baden Powell Drive) in Lynedoch, Stellenbosch. For more info call 021 881 8062 or go to www.stellenboschvineyards.co.za.
