Cape Town - Bikers Against Tolls is gearing up to deliver a memorandum stating its objection to Sanral's tolling of our roads to the Western Cape transport MEC.
It's understood that a memorandum is a weighty thing to transport and BAT has appealed for riders of all shapes and sizes of street-legal motorcycles and scooters (and car and bakkie drivers!) to rally round on Sunday 14 September, to spread the load.
The mass protest ride, which will again be both legal and peaceful, will start from the parking area of the Starlite Diner in Mispel Street, Bellville (opposite the Bellville Velodrome); participants are invited to meet from 9am, to move out at 10am.
THE ROUTE
The procession will follow Durban Road, the N1, the M5, the N2, Searle Street, Keizergracht, Darling Street, Adderley Street and Wale Street, where the memorandum will be handed to transport MEC Donald Grant, on the steps of the Western Cape Provincial Administration building.
BAT riders (and drivers) are urged to fly banners, flags and signs expressing their opposition to the South African Roads Agency's plans for further tolling of our roads, both locally and nationally.
"This is your chance to be noticed," said BAT spokesman Richard Green.
